If I were a working pro or a committed amateur facing a significant event or commitment, I'd pick up "something" to fill the need. That not being the case, I'm content to fondle thoughts of what may be eminent. "Waiting for something better" is your spin on what I asked, Paul. Maybe my question wasn't well phrased ;-)) I just wanted to know when the big shows and possible intro dates for new cameras might be. If there will be a successor to the DS2, then perhaps waiting a bit for DS2 prices to drop might make sense. Since, as G mentioned, a big show is in February, and my plans are to buy a DS2 in January, waiting a couple-three weeks might save me a few $$$. My plans are, and probably won't deviated from, going with a DS2 (although, if I found a new or very lightly used DS, I'd go for that as well if the savings were great enough). Knowing that the PMA is in February means that I ~might~ hold off on the planned January purchase of the camera until seeing what Pentax announces at the show. Depending on what's announced, the price of the DS2 may drop a bit. I don't mind waiting a couple-three weeks to see if that happens. Right now saving some money is of importance. Shel " ... I think that the next camera will be a well-specified D2. I would guess a spring announcement and fall availability. You might want to go with a DS2 for at least the near future. You can always upgrade later or buy the D2 as a second body. When did that happen? I used to have to go every year as a buyer, but haven't been in that loop since about 2000. Did it move just this year? If it's in OC, maybe I'll attend.
