Re: Not a test - question about stores in LA
Welcome to the list. I'm not an Angelino, but I do spend a few months a year there on business, so I've done some camera shopping in the city. I was going to say Samy's on Fairfax, but I see it's already on your list. They occasionally have a Pentax rep visit, usually in conjunction with one of their promotional events. I bought a couple of used Pentax lenses from them before I discovered ebay. We do have a couple of full time LA residents, so perhaps you'll get a better answer. I got my first SLR two years ago and that started it all, and now I'm hooked. Hopefully I can contribute but for starters I guess it's mostly going to be questions. By the way I'm swedish so english is my second languish so my spelling is hit and miss at times. Now for the first question... Is there any store here in Los Angeles that carries Pentax and know what they talk about? Uptil now I've been using four different stores here in LA 1. Samys on Fairfax, descent selection and great used prices but unfortunately the personel don't know Pentax. 2. Silvios in Torrance, ripped me of when selling me my old flash before I knew better, I wont go back. 3. Trader Jim's, I traded in my ZX-30 for a ZX-L for a good price. I don't know about the personel though. 4. Paul's in Torrance, great store but don't stock Pentax. I'm just finished a class there and it was great. thanx Paul _ Get a speedy connection with MSN Broadband. Join now! http://resourcecenter.msn.com/access/plans/freeactivation.asp

Well, my LX did suffer from the syndrome. But you`re right, it could have been a habitual thing firing the shutter. You think so? Hmmm... when I show cameras to people (even LX's), I almost always dry-fire them, just to make sure they actually work. With the LX's, I'm not trying to hide any sticky mirror problems, I'm trying to find them. Even if I was trying to conceal it, it's pretty hard to do that when I'm firing the shutter right in front of the customer. chris
