RE: OT: A Leica for Cesar

2004-11-15 Thread Cesar Matamoros II
Frank,

I cannot say that the red is the right choice for that camera, especially
as it clashes with the red Leica dot. Though, I am sure that the feel of
the camera is enhanced. I must admit that I have only handled a Leica
once. If anyone wants to lend me one for a while :-)

Different strokes for different folks - I have been wondering idly about
reskinning some of my other cameras though... If only I can get some free
time - even my original Bianchi has been sitting neglected :-(

P.S. My email is so fragmented right now, my replies - if they come - will
not be chronological...

Shel,

Some interesting cameras...

The purple on the camera is nice, even the strap is okay by me, but that
cold 'leatherette' just does not do it for me :-)

Actually, and all joking aside, I thought Cesar's LXen were done much
more tastefully than that. Wait, didn't he have a blue one, or am I
thinking of someone else's? Anyway, ~one~ of the ones that Cesar has
is a bit less, shall we say, garish than that red Leica.

I shouldn't have said tastefully above. Any camera clad with the
skin of a dead, cold-blooded animal may be a lot of things, but
tasteful isn't one of them... vbg

Frank,

My LXen thank you for noting their classy reskinning :-) Mine are white
cobra, the other grey sea snake. I believe Alan had the blue Super
Program... he made me think of the ability of using more noticeable skins
on chromed cameras. There are so many of mine waiting to be rejuvenated...

Yeah I was just thinking that... sort of thing where you'd have to think
hard about what to wear when you went out shooting with it (maybe dust
