Need to obtain some old documents [copies of orders] to verify a period
of active duty to qualify for GI Bill benefits. Had to have a user
account reset - new password. Old password expired more than two years ago.

A week worth of email correspondence back forth establishing my bona
fides ... finally got it reset

STILL couldn't log in. Just kept popping me back to the security screen;
no explanation what I was doing wrong.

Half a day on the phone ... MUST use internet exploder, CANNOT use
Firefox ... gotta' run setup for IE8 or whatever it is AND internet
exploder does NOT like the site certificate, so it's gonna' fight me
tooth and nail every step of the way.

Then another password reset.

FINALLY !!! I'm in and prompted for a new password - 10 char, 2 upper, 2
lower, 2 numbers, 2 special char + fill for length.

FIRST RESET is only 9 char only 1 special char. No wonder it wouldn't
work. Nothing to do with the browser.

Gotta install the site certificate. But internet exploder doesn't want
to go there, not just no, but HELL NO! Finally manage to FTP it and do a
manual install.

F^(*n' Micro$oft!!

Then, before I'm allowed do anything else, I have to go clean out my
inbox - 3000+ messages that must be deleted 20 at a time, and then I
gotta go empty 3000+ messages out of the trash 20 at a time.

To top it all off, the documents I need aren't available on-line. Cannot
use a password login to access the program that has the documents stored.

I have to go to a secure DoD computer and log in from there with a CAC
... which I no longer have since I was required to turn it in when I
retired from the military in 2007.

Hopefully you're not SOL or FBB, John. Resilience and determination to
continue ahead when all odds are against you is one of those values
they try to ingrain in you in the Military, no? Looks like they want
to make sure you still have the fighting spirit.

Good luck with these e-trenches!

But seriously, your problem can't be compared to logging on to Gmail

degreee of access and control over the data stored inside than the
users of those and other cybertainment networks. My wife sometimes
accesses her office desktop from home via a remote desktop. And
guess what? Right, Internet Explorer or nothing. It's their system,
so it's their choice, same as your situatiuon with the DoD. They do
it to protect themselves, lest some nefarious soul finds a security
hole that could exploited by using a third party browser. And yeah, I
see the irony in their use of the holeiest browser to ensure security,
but it caters to the widest user base and means they only need attend
to the security issues of one browser, not all of them.

Just a pity they didn't tell you to go to one of their own computers
in the first place, that was inconsiderate. SOP for a government
agency, really, you should have expected no less.

Probably be worse for us Cotty. This is a Go'mint server, programmed
under a least cost contract. Might not let us in at all unless we are
running IE-8.

Lets see. I've got 6389 messages in my trash in Mail. Open trash.
Select all. Delete. Takes a long time, like 7.3 seconds.

I can get into AKO [Army Knowledge Online] with Safari, no problem. PW or CAC
login, no problem. At home or on the Army net. Get all of my email via Mail
linked to AKO also. I cannot however get into the defense travel system or the
civilian personnel site. Those were developed by different contractors.

2001-01-20 Thread PAUL STENQUIST

Well, you have to scan it and save it. Most scanners come with a
PhotoShop Plug-in that you install. Then, when you scan the photo it
will automatically open it in Photoshop. But Photoshop can open almost
any image type that a scanner can produce. Once you've opened it in
Photoshop, you simply resize it with the "Image Size" control to fit the
PUG standard.

CLick on Size, then "trim" then back to the image -you just
use the mouse to draw the edges, kind of.

ya can still call if you are stuck
