Re: OT - a web host that won't filter spam

2007-06-09 Thread Stephen
Thanks everyone for your replies,

I have a few web hosts to look at now.

The big problem is that automatic filtering does not work, in that it
will bounce legitimate e mail.

I use mailwasher to filter our e mail, I have it set to highlight e
mail that is listed on some of the spam lists. I then look at it to see if it
is legitimate. It does not take long ( I get about 20% spam, even though the
web hosts is now telling me that filter everything ) and mailwasher keeps a log
I check daily, incase I accidently delete something I wanted ( you can recover
most of the text in the e mail ).

I actually doubt they are filtering my e mail now. I was getting e mail
listed on one of the lists they said they used, as they were telling me they
will never will let spam on any of their servers. I want to change because they
lied to me and refused to even apologize when they were caught out.

I missed the original... I have a hosting account through Godaddy and
found that it is possible to switch off their spam filtering. I
don't normally receive much spam and I trust the filtering in my mail
program a lot more than that on the server.

No, you can still get non-filtered email and hosting. I know MCI/Verizon
Business does it, but we're a little expensive for the home user or
small business.

2007-06-06 Thread Paul Sorenson
Does your ISP have an on-line address book...if so any addresses entered
there will not be filtered out as the filter software sees them as OK.
Also, go into your e-mail setup online and see if there is a list of
blocked domains on your account - you should be able to take the ones
off that list that you don't want blocked.
