Just to be clear: the bezel (ring around the outside) rotates and changes the 
parameter(s) shown in the display.  The display remains orientated in the way 
you would expect to be able to read it from behind the camera.

When I first got one on my MZ-S I just thought of it as a fairly obvious
modern-day equivalent of the little cut-out windows on some older bodies
(often used for things like film rating; sometimes for shutter speed).
There's no reason why the LCD display needs to be separate from the dial
when there's only one dial; on the PZ-1p, of course, the single display
serves two thumbwheels.

That's a very interesting design choice, I must say.  And I can even see
how it would be useful, but the idea of wanting to do that in the first
place makes my head hurt.

???  Graydon was asking what the "screen" was, shown in the rotary switch of 
the D.  I pointed out that it was an LCD display and referred to a URL for the 
MZ-S that had a clearer view of a similar feature.

Cotty, you *know* they're going to stick a full frame sensor in the 645D
body and sell it for about 3 kUSD under a name no one could possibly
have predicted.  And we can all have a good thrash about having to buy
medium format lenses for it.

Oh no. I think CRK are purposely pulling back on their service 
department. They used to be pretty good. Sad. Hope you get it back soon


Completely agree with the ergonomics. The combo of the deep grip, thin 
body and simple dials totally float my boat

Just picked up an MZ-S. Some distant years ago, I dissed it's looks, 
along with the Rocky Balboa Leica R8. In the flesh, it's quite a 
pleasant camera to hold. Not Stallone-y at all and the canted top plate 
makes a lot of sense (especially, I imagine on a 645). I recant

Derby, I've always really liked the MZ-S, finding the ergonomics suited me
perfectly.  Unfortunately, mine blew itself up recently and is now on its
way to Japan for repair, Kennedy's being unable to fix it in Australia!

(and I still prefer the flexibilitty of the two-wheel interface)
