I showed it to Kelly, Norman and Boo. They like it to.:-)

Almost looks like a cut out from a piece of bristol board or something like
that.

Neat Shel.

My niece is going to put some text onto Buddy's photoshopped butt.
You may not be far off ...

It was a project for my niece ... of course it can be done other ways. I
can think of several options right off the bat, but there was neither the
time nor the need to use other techniques. All I had time for was a few
quick snaps with the digi camera and then a fiddle in PS. I don't care
that it looks like it is a result of PS ... that is precisely the look that
my niece wanted so she could take the results and do what she needed to do
for her project.

Hi!

My cat Buddy... My buddy, the cat.

Made this for a project for my niece. She and my Sis and a few others
liked it.

Shel, I've read your response to Frank's question as to how this was
obtained.

Nonetheless, today when PS is everywhere it looks like it was PSed.
Again, I don't mean that as a critique, just mere statement of the fact.

I wonder if you could've done something similar but in such a way that
somehow it would be rather *obvious* that this is not a pos-processed
photo.

Again, I don't mean that as a critique but rather as a suggestion if
you're going to keep playing with this.

Hope I make sense to you.

Boris

Hi Frank ... this is the original, pretty much straight from the camera
except for a little trimmed from the left side.

I suppose the answers to your questions are qualified yes, yes, and yes.

Unfortunately, my masking techniques are virtually non-existent, so while
the result is fine for its purpose, I'd like to have been able to preserve
some more fine detail in the fur ... but Eisman's book on masking is coming
up and maybe it'll help a bit. I used a rather clumsy, heavy handed
technique in doing this, but I'm just learning.

Lovely, Shel!

Looks like a design for a Big Ad Campaign for some cat product or
something. And, I mean that as a compliment.

Tell me, is it a "true silhouette"? By that, I mean was it shot like
that, or is the silhouette a result of post-processing or
photoshopping?

Either way, it makes no difference to me in terms of the quality of
the image - it is what it is, no matter how arrived at. I'm merely
curious.

cheers,
frank
