Yes, I think it is. There are several reasons why I show these pictures. One is
simply to tease some people who are obsessed with bird pictures, but another is
the contrast between free as a bird and the harsh reality. One reason why I
don´t want to get too close is that I try to get some beauty there.
As for decay you should take a look at the pictures of a friend mine, Øyvind
Antonsen, he both studies the cruel sides of nature and also the abandoned
homes in his part of Norway:

You should get closer on the dead birds. Make it more visceral. I've taken
some gruesome dead animal pictures, but I'm too afraid to share them for fear
of it polarizing people. Maybe I will put them all in a series one day.
There's something that makes me kind of queasy looking at pictures of rotting
corpses. The dead body doesn't bother me, but the decay is really unsettling
to me. I'd much rather shoot decaying buildings honestly. Its probably a
normal reaction.
