I tried some photos last night while it was coming down, but haven’t had a
good look at them yet.

This morning there were 6-8 inches of layered snow, sleet, and ice on the
ground. Got my morning outdoor exercise with the snow shovel. It’s a heavy
mixture.

Thanks John. I have Java enabled on both machines I'm using. I appreciate
the help.

My worry is that if I and a handful of others can't see the Picasa web
gallery, how can I be sure that the viewers I intend to present it to can
see it? It seems to be a tool that is not very dependable in thisregard.

Tom, I get to see the gallery properly, with 6 (quite large) thumbnails.
Clicking on an image brings up a screen with the same image to the left,
and
others in the category in smaller thumbnails in a box on the right.
I'm using Windows XP Pro (SP2) and Internet Explorer 7 Build 5730.11, if
that helps. PC-Cillin, Windows Defender also running, firewall operative
but no other anti-nasties running.
Since the web-site uses Javascript, could it be that those who can't see it
have Java disabled?

 Sorry Boris,
 I took RAW + jpegs.
The jpegs were too dark (my fault), but the RAW conversion fixed it.
I guess I forgot to take the tint out.
I hope to add more to the gallery later today.

Putting pix up on the web was a pain in the ass before I went to it.
Now, I can establish a web album (internet connection and a click or

upload individual jpeg's with a single click to the web album.
It is very simple, quality is OK - but not so good that I worry about

Javascript is not Java and doesn't require Java services.

I don't use any of these picture posting websites for the simple

I write my own html and post it to my own website. Or I post my own

Hi!

Big snowstorm today in the midwest and Chicago, many schools closed.
40 mph winds coming down Lake Michigan make a Blizzard.
Snow is 'heart attack' weight and more to come.

Bob, I managed to load the picture unlike Tom. However, I see a
distinctive yet light blue/cyan cast...

Speaking of power zoom. I got quite a shock when I was trying out the
K10D FA*80-200 f2.8 last night. I twisted the zoom ring and it
zoomed from one end to the other (up until then I didn't know if the
PZ worked on my second hand 80-200). While I knew PZ was back, I
wasn't deliberately testing it, it startled me :-)

Sorry Boris,

The jpegs were too dark (my fault), but the RAW conversion fixed it.
I guess I forgot to take the tint out.
I hope to add more to the gallery later today.

Tom C,
You are really missing something with Picassa.
Putting pix up on the web was a pain in the ass before I went to it.
Now, I can establish a web album (internet connection and a click or two), and
upload individual jpeg's with a single click to the web album.
It is very simple, quality is OK - but not so good that I worry about theft.
Cost is zero! (that notorious penny pincher Dr. Don W. is using it)
You're missing a good thing.

Thanks Mike. At least I know it's not just me. I'm running Windows XP Pro

  Sorry Boris,
  I took RAW + jpegs.
The jpegs were too dark (my fault), but the RAW conversion fixed it.
I guess I forgot to take the tint out.

2006-12-01 Thread John Coyle
Tom, I get to see the gallery properly, with 6 (quite large) thumbnails.
Clicking on an image brings up a screen with the same image to the left, and
others in the category in smaller thumbnails in a box on the right.
I'm using Windows XP Pro (SP2) and Internet Explorer 7 Build 5730.11, if
that helps. PC-Cillin, Windows Defender also running, firewall operative
but no other anti-nasties running.
Since the web-site uses Javascript, could it be that those who can't see it
have Java disabled?

Thanks Bob -

I hadn't heard about the closing by Kenosha, but westbound I-94 toward
Madison was closed at about the Milwaukee-Waukesha County line. There's
quite a steep hill there and cars just couldn't make it up the hill.

It took about 2 hours to clear my driveway using a tractor with a 36
blower - the snow was so wet it kept clogging the blower. Really glad I
didn't have to shovel it!!
