Re: PESO: Hageman Barn re-do

2009-01-08 Thread Jack Davis
Thanks, "bitchy photog". ;)
I'm not picking up what I would call "banding" in the sky. Center glow is the
area of the sun. I'm, also, missing the lower left "photoshoperness".
The only thing that did (I've moved on) bother me about this rendering was the
roof halo on the small shed on the right.
Maybe you can help me?

Jack

Re: PESO: Hageman Barn re-do

2009-01-08 Thread Brian Walters
Hi Jack

I think the colour of the barn and shed is a definite improvement but
there is now distinct banding in the sky (on my monitor, at least) and
the foreground is too oversaturated.

If you could paste the old rendering as a layer over the new one and
then use a layer mask to allow the new barn rendering to show though in
full and the foreground in part, you may be on to something.

Cheers

Nah. Now the banding in the sky and the photoshoppery in the lower
left are too distracting.

You've (probably) plenty more lifetime to do a reshoot that might

Re: PESO: Hageman Barn re-do

2009-01-08 Thread Jack Davis
I don't believe so, Tim. I did no saturating other than a gentle nudge of the
yellow.
I focused on the barn and to me, it appears spot on. Fairly solid, fine
textured boards for their apparent age. Not a lot of detail available,
especially from this distance.

Again, thanks much for commenting.

I can't remember the original, probably didn't see it.

I like the lines in this one. The contrasting lines between the green
and the red in the foreground mirrors the main motif. Thats a fine
thing.
But the barn seems a tad less sharp than the foreground. I think that
weakens the impact of the scene.
Could this be a consequence of boosting saturation and/or contrast?

Thanks, Luiz. As far as the lighting and color are concerned, you're a member
of the "keep it in check" faction (as originally rendered) and this treatment
was for the "liven it up" group. A balanced rendering. ;-)

Jack, I like the extra foreground, but the new color just seems to
intense for the scene. I'd say the second framing with just a small
increase in color from the first shot would pretty much get it done -
for this particular point of view. Keep that barn in check...

Yes, I agree with you about the grass. I nudged the yellow slider a little to
warm the scene and although color seem to pop in this kind of lighting, I
probably should have brought down the green some.

Thanks, Rick!
