Yep -- along with National Guard troops and every jackleg roofer and
tree service in the country.

We were racing an ice storm on the way back from New Orleans early this
month and passed several caravans of utility trucks along the way.
Thankfully, we ended up getting just about ½ inch with maybe 6 inches of
snow this time (with no power outages that I know of) -- and we got in a
few hours ahead of the storm.

Re: PESO: Ice Storm

2007-01-15 Thread Paul Stenquist
Thanks Rick. Yes, we still have power. A few trees down in the
neighborhood but not a lot of damage. However, I'm glad I didn't have
to go to work today. Thanks for making picks. Helps me narrow it
down. With previous ice storms, I sometimes got some subsequent sun.
No such luck today. But I've also found that wide shots of iced trees
are generally not much to look at. Tight shots seem to work best.

Re: PESO: Ice Storm

2007-01-15 Thread Paul Stenquist
Thanks Bruce. Yes, I can imaging Missouri gets a lot of this.
Generally, it's too cold here for ice storms, but this has been a
warm winter. As you know, it has to be right around 32 degrees F for
this to happen. The precipitation comes down as rain and freezes when
it hits the tree branches, sidewalks, cars, etc.

Well, I like them all the best. Very cool looking, but reminds me of
living in Missouri and dealing with freezing rain storms. I'm glad
that I can look at your work, rather than seeing if first hand.

 Nice shots!

I stomped around my place with the same ice but didn't spot anything I
