Another one of Grace spin casting. I like this one a bit more. Both of these, btw, employ the AF 540 FGZ flash in high speed synch mode. ISO 200 f4 @ 1/1000th. Couldn't really get a shot in the middle of the day without flash. I wouldn't have tried to guess from this shot, since it was continuous autofocus. But it could be backfocused. Once side of the frame was backfocusing a considerable amount, but not enough to extend from her head to the grass:-). Thanks to all who commented. But this is a bad example of what I was trying to demonstrate. Looking at it in the morning with glasses on I have to say you're all correct. The grass is in focus. That's a matter of photographer failure or continuous autofocus failure rather than the lens being out of whack. It's not out by three feet! :-)). Probably didn't catch another autofocus update before pulling the trigger. I processed this late at night and was smitten by the image. But I can't really detect soft without glasses -- or a diopter adjustment. So there you have it. But I do like Grace's form, and I am planning an NFL career for her. Yep! Based on that shot, it would appear your lens is just fine. The left side would have been noticeably soft if shot with my lens. I'm hoping that the vast majority of them are just that. I have to say I agree with the other comments, the grass seems to be in perfect focus. I shoot so much almost flat subject matter a lens defect like this should be apparent pretty quickly.
