I like these. Good captures of the animals, but to me, both have the same
fault: their backsides are virtually tangential to the edge of frame. They need
some space.
Best,

The branch touching the right ear of the deer on the back is a
distraction. It is a very fine picture 'cause it shows the interaction
between the animals, but I think that more takes would have been
necessary. Personally I also often miss things such as these, but with
time I am slowly but surely getting to spot them. Galia, OTOH, seems to
spot them on the fly.

My monitor at work is not profiled, but it is not badly off. Yet, the
heron seems pink or light purple to me... Also his head has some clutter
that does not add to the view...

A good shot that tilts ever so slightly to the left, if I'm not mistaken.

It's a good photo too, but it seems as if you used a built-in flash or
another light source that was very similar to it. The light is rather
harsh here.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jt-johnson/5720772054/in/photostream

That's the best shot of the five, in my eyes. Real keeper you have here,
Jeffery. It just clicks together nicely in all respects.

Hope you don't mind my brutal honesty. I mean it in the most
constructive way.

Jack, Daniel, David, Paul and Boris RE: PESO: Rainy Weekend

2011-05-15 Thread Jeffery Johnson
Jack: I used my Pentax K-R, DA L 55-300mm, DA L 18-55mm on the Radnor Lake
captures and Pentax K-R with the SMC Pentax 1:1.4/50 + Vivitar Close-Up
Lenses for the captures of the Cicadas.

Daniel: Thank You...

David: Thanks and I will keep the following in mind bad weather makes for
good photos. Although when there is rain off and on again today and later
this evening a steadier amount not sure what I will capture today.

Paul: I agree with you but I noticed for the two shots I took of them
together I went more toward the right of them. Will keep a lot of the
comments in mind for our next trip to Radnor Lake and this time perhaps we
will get up and go really early in the morning.

Boris: Thanks for being honest. It was a nice day at the Lake and watching
the deer interact but when we came across these two it was rather late in
the day and we were for the most part in the deeper part of the woods. The
light source was limiting due to the darker part of the woods as we
attempted to capture them interacting. Luckily they seem rather use to us
humans so are not bothered that we are using these odd machines to take
their pictures. There was a bench that we sat down and watched and took
pictures of these two.
