Funny, I wouldn't have even thought of this as a pano - they can be pretty cliche, but here you have done something very unexpected. Nice punchy color and very detailed. I have to wonder what it would have looked like in comparison for a single shot and cropped. Re: PESO: Something Different
I had to work with the sky border on the top and left side of #256. That was a matter of tilting and maneuvering to keep the border width fairly constant. I think the low shooting angle was the primary cause for a slightly skewed edge line.(?) Otherwise I don't think I cropped to just to straighten either one. Thanks for comments! I find, however, the water almost a distraction. Hard to explain, but I'd like the water to have less weight than the geese, but it doesn't. I am sort of borderline on this, I find it a pleasing graphic, but not as pleasing as it could be. Hope that helps. Re: PESO - Something Different
Ken - I like it a lot -- a painterly presentation - I dont think you needed to call it something different though :) Interesting how much more blurry the water looks than the birds... which direction were you panning in? is that something that should be obvious and I'm the um goose for not knowing? ann Kenneth Waller wrote: >Check out >http://mypeoplepc.com/members/kwaller/offwallphoto/id2.html > >Trying for something different on an often photographed subject. > >K10D, 600mm SMC FA, 1/15 sec @ f8, 200 ISO with Kirk King Cobra head on >Gitzo 1548 tripod > > >Comments appreciated - thanks in advance. > >Kenneth Waller >http://tinyurl.com/272u2f > > > > > > -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net

Ken, That shot is stunning. The colors are great, and the way you blended motion in the background and the wings with sharp bodies is marvelous. Re: PESO - Something Different
Almost looks like you were utilizing some race car shooting techniques. It is actually pretty cool and unusual. The panning is interesting because the head/body is pretty sharp, but the wings show movement as does the background, so you see forward movement along with wings flapping.
