thanks every one for kudos and other comments - glad I woke y'all up :-) as to the dinky camera... I suspect someone (or many but me) recognize the camera as one that is in fact a classy one. as to looking like Spike Lee -- Dang, he really does.. in the face.. but this guy in my photo stood up shortly after I took that shot and he's a lot taller than Spike. ann On 10/2/2019 4:52 PM, Bob Pdml wrote: He can't be a real photographer with a dinky little toy camera like that. Re: PESO modern photographer
I don't know if you can claim the Old Man of the Mountain. The whole area was socked in by fog, for about a month, but the fog had lifted, just about the time I arrived with some friends at one of the scenic overlooks. I shot two maybe three frames with my LX and probably the M*300mm f4.0 and we drove off. The fog closed back in for a couple of weeks. Next time if cleared the Old Man was gone... The best part, if you can call it that, were the reports of the natural wonder's demise about a week later, with the Governor of New Hampshire proclaiming that he would spare no expense to rebuild it. I think he was a bit unclear on the concept of "natural wonder". The sadist part is that the film, (who's whereabouts have no current clue), was one of two rolls that I've received back from a processing lab, with numerous scratches. Retouching the print was a PITA. However based on the fact that I may have been the very last person to photograph it, before it fell of the mountain, makes it my fault. Yes, that's true, but to my eye, it's quite surreal. In addition while the water level on the left looks much higher, there's no size reference, except for the figures that on the beach to the right, which I didn't notice until well after taking in the apparent water level difference which snaps one back to reality. At least that's how I see it. Either that or the drugs I'm taking are a lot stronger than I thought. PESO -- The Photographer
or the things we endure for art... I mad this photo quite some time ago, looked at it and decided not to post it, nothing was really sharp. I thought I had missed focus but actually now that I look back on it, this was probably when the A*300mm was starting to go wonky. I thought it was amusing so when I ran across it looking for something else I decided to try to clean it up at least well enough for a Web presentation. Between Focus Magic and a judicious use of unsharp mask it came out better than I had any right to expect. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1604247/PESO/PESO%20--%20thephotographer.html Equipment Pentax *ist-Ds w/smc Pentax A*300mm f4.0 As usual comments are welcome but may be totally ignored. -- {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0\deflang1033{\fonttbl{\f0\fnil\fcharset0 Courier New;}} \viewkind4\uc1\pard\f0\fs20 I've just upgraded to Thunderbird 3.0 and the interface subtly weird.\par } -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

My only little criticism is that I wonder if the background were just a teensy bit OOF, it might make the subjects pop out a bit more. Peter, that's a really fun shot. I like everything about it. The only part that bothers me a little is the white stripe on the building in the upper right.
