At last I got around to update the gallery:

I also liked the sense of mystery in many of the images you have

That's a really nice gallery; and what a family resemblance!

I like PAWS 202 and 204 a lot, too.

You have wonderful sons, and they have great dad whom they will thank
when they grow up and get to look at themselves being kids through your
work and your eyes.

Re: PESO: The kids

2013-12-07 Thread DagT
Thank you Christine, and Boris, Rick, Bulent, Bob, Alan and Dan og course.

It is very nice seeing them grow up. Still children, starting to be men. Life
is still a mystery and it is getting even more difficult to understand what is
going on. Taking the pictures is also getting more difficult, as they see it as
more personal. The good thing is that the oldest is also a bit proud of the
pictures, so they are correct is some sense.

PESO The Kids Are Okay

It’s that time of year when I see the kids venture out on their own. The
Cardinal is probably just days out of the nest. The Bluejay is a bit more
mature I’d guess

Aww! They so cute!

I've been trying for weeks to record some birds to test a new recorder
and some microphones and there's been total silence. Is there a time of
year when there's no more reason for them to sing because the nest is
full and there's no more mating to be done?

Yes, they sing loudest and longest in the spring when trying to mate. I still
hear them in the early morning but not nearly so much as in the spring.

Yes, Spring is the time. Here in the warm Lowveld the birds are busy
already (pre-spring). Some males are already sporting their mating plumage.
