PESO - Waiting for the Airport Train B, Take 2

2020-10-14 Thread Rick Womer
I’ve spent a few evenings getting advice from the SmugMug help squad, and
completely reorganizing my photos on the site.

These ~should~ work (I’ve tested):

B:

https://rickwomer.smugmug.com/2020/Penn-Campus-Sept-2020/i-QggrzbW/A

Original:

https://rickwomer.smugmug.com/2020/Penn-Campus-Sept-2020/i-z8HprnZ/A

All opinions appreciated.

Nice, it has a quiet lonely feel to it.

Putting her, pretty much halfway between the middle and the “third point” made
me take longer for my eyes to find her, which emphasized the emptimenss and
loneliness. The someone flat lighting also contributes to that mood.

useable as well.

Tim Horton's is a Canada - wide donut/coffee chain. They are ubiquitous. Their
coffee is mediocre at best and my memories of their donuts is about the same.

Perhaps the tepid coffee is what annoyed this young lady? In my imagination
she'd been stood up. Or recently jilted. It's the romantic in me (apologies to
Captain Renault).

Re: OT - PESO - Waiting

2015-11-08 Thread Bruce Walker
She may just be waiting for the caffeine to kick in. :) I like it.
The image mood matches the subject's.

I'm not so hard on Timmies as you, Frank. But that may only be because
I've had to hang around in Timmies or visit them for takeout on
numerous occasions in the last two years as my parent's health faded
and I spent innumerable hours in hospitals, where Tim Hortons is the
only game in town.

I practically lived on their sour cream doughnuts and their "New!"
dark roast coffee, which is pretty good compared to most of the other
mega coffee shop chains.

Admittedly I've returned to avoiding them now, but there'll always be
that not entirely unpleasant association of sharing coffee and
doughnuts off a cardboard tray with my sister and parents by a
hospital bed.

Really like that Frank. Not a fan of coffee shop grabs personally but
this pic doesn't shout 'coffee shop grab'. like the composition, the
pose, and the reflected lighting onto her legs makes it. Good
directional lighting onto her face with the diagonal shadows reinforcing
the daylight theme. I wondered about not seeing her eyes but decided I
liked it just as it is. Nice mono study here - looks slightly tinted on

Thanks Bruce.

I don't mind Tim's that much. It's on par with Country Style, Coffee Tine and
the other chains. Not horrible, but mediocre. And sometimes when you need that
caffeine jolt, mediocre more than works.

At least they're consistent and they're everywhere; they should get points for
that.

Re: PESO - Waiting for the Storm

2015-07-21 Thread Knarf
Unbeknownst to me at the time the sky behind me was quite dark. The winds were
starting to whip up (see the ripples on the water) and a few very large drops
were starting to fall. But the sky in front of me was bright, hence the bright
water.

I thought after posting that the title wasn't the best but I'm too lazy to
change it now.

Thanks for the nice words, Rick!

I like it.

She's kind of hunched over, umbrella pulled down; I can feel the cool, wet

that she's waiting for a light when there's no traffic around.

Deceptively simple photograph that is really much more than a slice of life.
