Hi Igor, I'm not sure that PS has the same size limitations as LR, the way LR works is it produces a composite DNG so I think that the issue is mainly a limit on the RAW/DNG engine (one of my friends is on the LR dev team so I will ask out of interest). Pano prints are amazing :) I think my images are hidden from the public, I have to share a direct link for them to be visible. I have a pano head but if I'm shooting hand held or just off a conventional head I tend to overlap by 50%. This typically makes it easy for the stitcher and it's easy to set by eye, you just place what was at the edge of the frame in the centre on the subsequent exposure. Thank you, Mark! For this pano, I had a set of 13 shots, but I don't remember if I skipped some of them (in the middle) - for simplicity. I was using an old Bogen/Manfrotto 3433 (aka 501) video tripod head (with an old Manfrotto video tripod). It is very convenient for panning, but I the stepping (and overlap control) was done manually. Rob, to answer your question: I used PS for stitching. It was based on 13 individual shots (unless I skipped some intermediate ones in the process - due to an excessive overlap). I could save a tiff with 32765 on a side, but had to reduce the pixel count to about 16000 for the largest jpeg (not shown here). Now, I wonder if something like 64000x8000px could have worked for the TIFF. In any case, I have no need for those huge pixel numbers - as I am not printing that pano... The question was purely "academic". Thinking of which, - it could be cool to have a photo wall paper. :-) I just need a large enough wall and wallet to cover... :-))) Thanks for sharing the pointer to Gigapan.
