This one sent me to google - had never heard of the guy, but if I'mright
that the flowers are wilted - as they appear,
it doesn't really matter - but once you learn that he wanted fresh
flowers forever it makes it more interestingand I suspect

it is something you knew.

Thanks, Larry. Yes, it is Mount Hamilton. In fact, it’s directly under the base
of the 36” refractor, beneath the once (and hopefully some day once again)
moving floor of the dome.

Lick’s will stipulated that there always be fresh flowers.

narrow, busy, hairy road. It did allow

One of my fondest memories, involved a drive up that road. I was going
to a weekend campout event at Grant Ranch Park about halfway up that
road. Thursday afternoon, the welds holding the muffler onto the
tailpipe of my Sprite broke. I didn't have time to get them repaired,
so Friday afternoon I drove my sprite up Mount Hamilton road, with the
top down and running straight pipes.

Not something I would want to make a habit of, and since I often hear
large groups of motorcycles with loud pipes drive past my house on hwy
9, I understand how annoying it is. But, damn, that drive was one of
those magical moments that I'll always remember and treasure.
