Toine, I don’t know what it is, but it’s not bamboo; it’s some variety of tree. 
The photo is showing only the top two stories of the 3-story house, so the 
plant is bigger than it looks.

Japanese bamboo in an invasive species in Hawaii, and is choking out a lot
of the endemic flora.  There are substantial projects there now to kill it
off in upland forest areas.

I had two species of bamboo. Both as screening. One species blossomed
and they all died (I read they blossom in sync worldwide). The other
one turned out to be a real spreader. I had to chop it to pieces with
the heaviest axe I could find and remove the pavement, those roots
extend to 5 meter or more. Removing concrete is easier, at least it is
gone once removed (unlike Japanese Knotweed)

There are varieties of bamboo that do not spread beyond the original
planting.  Very nice and effective as screening.
