PESO - Walnut Creek
Sometimes photography is too much work. Spent a lot of time on this hill last night. Left about 10 minutes before light got optimal, but it was windy and cold and I got tired of waiting. Never quite got what I wanted. I may try again, I may not. Yes, I was working on this for my class project. Anyway, this is where I live... http://members.aol.com/eactivist/PAWS/pages/wc.htm Comments welcome. The only issue that you might want to fuss with is that the lower edge of the tree blends into the background foliage, a little something to separate it out would be good. Re: PESO - Walnut Creek
That's a nice composition and a pleasing scene as shot. But, yes, it does appear that the light would have continued to impove. You might try going back to the RAW and warming up the color temperature just a little bit. Or, if you're working in PS, try a little bit of warm filtration. Godfrey === Thanks, Godfrey. Not quite sure how. I did do some selection and lightening, maybe a bit more. I sort of like it, although I have not found my ultimate tree against the sky shot yet. (With either freeway or houses in background, for the manmade/nature bit.) Re: PESO - Walnut Creek
Marnie, I can sure see why you were attempting to wait it out. I can imagine if the far clouds and the near tree where lit by the sun just as it was dropping below the coastal hills. Could, also, hope for enough glow to provide a hint of valley detail. I lived in the Bay Area for 24 yrs and remember the windy bitter cold summer evenings. Well, the other issue I had was walking down the hill in the dark (or too dark -- gopher holes). But because it is summer I actually had a bit more time than I thought (i.e. day length keeps increasing). Thanks. Trouble is we don't always have clouds and my time frame for finishing this project is starting to run out. OTOH, you know I can always shoot it post project too. LOL. I like the composition. The color is a little pale for my liking. Maybe a little individual color saturation increase ? The dry grass hills are always lighter than one thinks, but it certainly can be bumped up a bit. Thanks for looking.
