Re: PESOS: Hands on with the 645Z and some other stuff
So nice to see a display case full of Pentax/Ricoh products. We're fortunate here in the MKE area to have three decent brick and mortar photo stores, but they keep pushing Nikon and Canon. When I ask about Pentax I get the same answer...we can order one for you. They've not stocked Pentax since I bought a DS2. I'm hoping with Ricoh's marketing that will change. -p On 5/8/2014 8:43 AM, Bob Sullivan wrote: Thanks for the update John. You know it's real when one of us can see and touch it. Re: PESOS: Hands on with the 645Z and some other stuff
I would love to have paying work enough that would allow me to justify buying one. On 5/8/2014 9:43 AM, Bob Sullivan wrote: Thanks for the update John. Re: PESOS: Hands on with the 645Z and some other stuff
I talked to the owners of both local stores around here a couple of years back about why they were no longer carrying Pentax and both of them told me the same thing ... They would stock Pentax if they could get Pentax accept their orders. This was back just about the time Hoya acquired Pentax. It seems to have occurred about the time the K10D came out, because I ordered mine through Southeastern, and they couldn't get one from Pentax, finally resorting to ordering it for me through BH. Ricoh seems to have got the message that to sell Pentax, they've got to have Pentax in the stores where photographers who are not all ready brand loyalists can see it, touch it buy it. There were several known CaNikonistas there showing an interest in the 645Z (where interest == When am I going to be able to actually buy one?). My local BM store is much the same way. Last model they had in-stock was the K7 - and they wanted something like $1100 for it when all online sources had it for less than $800. I couldn't pay the $300 premium to help 'em out. Made me sad. But I did buy my *istDS from them, sight-unseen, right after its availability was announced! $1200 and I was happy to do it. You've reminded me again just how much I hated that name. What a craptastic name for a camera. -Charles -- Charles Robinson - charl...@visi.com Minneapolis, MN http://charles.robinsontwins.org http://www.facebook.com/charles.robinson -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
