Pentax Rebates coming?

2015-05-12 Thread Darren Addy
This german page lists rebates for the K-3, K-S2 and K-50. Rebates are
given in euros and swiss francs and are 100, 50, and 50 respectively.
This appears to be a Ricoh Imaging initiative, so one would think that
if it is offered in Europe that we would see it announced elsewhere
very soon.

http://www.prophoto-online.de/fotonachrichten/ricoh-imaging-cashback-aktion-10009165

Also want to mention that BH Photo Video is currently offering the
BG-5 grip free with the K-3 body at $799 (although the low price from
an Amazon seller right now is $718 if one does not want the grip). The
rebate effectively makes the K-3 about $475 less than the K-3 which is
to ship on May 25th (according to Amazon). IMHO that makes it the
Prime Time to upgrade to a K-3 if you've been thinking about it and
are a bang-for-the-buck guy (as opposed to the
have-the-latest-and-greatest kind of guy).

Re: Pentax rebates

The card says you need to suplly (emphasis mine):

1) *Original* completed rebate form. (Copies are not accepted.)

So you need to have purchased the K-7 to get the card and cannot just
print out this PDF.

Thank you for this additional info.

I don't understand why Pentax doesn't post this information on
their website, and why one needs to look at somebody's (albeit
a president of Pentax Imaging) web-blog.

It appears that rhe card doesn't say one really has to purchase K7
or present any proof of its purchase, does it?
(I hesitated for a moment: do they want to have K7's SN written
in the rebate form, - but it doesn't look like that's the case.)

So, - why not post this information on pentaximaging.com , where
they have a place for rebates/rebate information already?!
And then Pentax (or Hoya) complains about their profits?!

Nor do I. However, you do have to have a receipt for a K-7 camera and
send in the card with the receipt for the lenses, etc within 30 days
of the cameras purchase. I think.

Any others out there getting stiffed!!

Well, there were two rebate offers over the summer, one of which ended in
early July or August and the other which picked up from that date and I
think is still current. Hopefully you used the correct form. The only
difference (aside from the date) was the addition of the *istDL to the later
form.

Either way, you should get in touch with Pentax and/or the company that
handles their rebate offers. The squeaky wheel gets the oil, but being
squeaky to other wheels gets you nothing.

I got my $100 rebate from my D-FA100mm macro last week, no problems.

Pentax Rebates

I've been waiting for a Pentax rebate since June of 04. As most of you know,
our favorite camera manufacturer promised a $200 rebate if one purchased the

received their rebate did so only after complaining vociferously. I haven't

Let's see what happens. However, the business practices of the mother ship are

scans completely unusable due to Newton's Rings which
will, at times, be produced where the two films do not
 meet.
In case you see concentric rings in your scanned
image, you've found Mr Newton's rings.
Good thought that the RDP may have been cross
 processed.

Still probably won't produce very good color,

Last night I tried scanning what I thought were
  some color negs, and the
results were awful. Upon examining the strips
  carefully I noticed that
there was no orange mask, so I thought that the
  film may have been slide
film. Tried scanning as transparency, and the
  results were just as bad.
Finally I read the film info in the border and
  discovered the film to be
Fuji RDP, which is a slide film. However, all
  slide film I've ever seen
has black borders, this has clear. And the colors
  are strange, with a
subtle and somewhat greenish cast over all. I
  also recall getting prints
   from this roll.

So, what kind of weirdness is happening. Maybe
  the lab processed it as
   neg
   film - cross processing?

I've been waiting for a Pentax rebate since June of 04. As most of you
know, our favorite camera manufacturer promised a $200 rebate if one
purchased the *istD in combinastion with the DA 16-45/4. To date, it seems
that most who have received their rebate did so only after complaining
 vociferously. I haven't said a word yet and haven't received a single
dollar. I e-mailed Pentax today. Let's see what happens. However, the
business practices of the mother ship are somewhat disheartneing. I will
 report back.

Mine took about 2 1/2 months or a little less. No contact from me to them
after sending in for the rebate. That was a bit earlier than yours; I
recieved the kit at the end of March '04, and probably sent in for the
rebate in early April. My records show that I deposited the check on June
17th, so I probably recieved it a few days or a week before that.

In addition to email, you might want to write a snail-mail letter to the
address shown on the back of the *ist D manual.

Good Luck,

Greg

I got mine in a reasonable amount of time, maybe 4-5
weeks. I would still call them to make sure it is in
process.
