I agree. When it was first shown I didn't watch it because I thought
it would be too Hollywood and contrived, but I've been watching it
recently and really enjoying it.

You're obviously not a real adventure motorcyclist. Real adventure
motorcyclists have cameras on their helmets and on their bikes, plus a
professional cameraman on the 3rd bike, and 2 4WD vehicles tracking
them with a production crew, a doctor and some more cameras just in
case.

hi Godfrey,

usually i just take a pair of soft panniers slung over the pillion seat
and a tank bag and considering that most of our rides usually last
three weeks and that we carry tents, sleeping bags, stoves and heat&eat

thanks Jim. been reading up on the 6x7 ever since seeing that one
yesterday. first introduced in 1969 with the next major revised body
coming up in 1989 (the 67) with the MLU version somewhere in the 1970s

Nice story. I recall when the 6X7 was introduced (I think the 1960s). I
picked it up and decided that it was much too large for me to handle.
Years later, I settled on the 645 Pentax which I still use to photograph
weddings.

I know the feeling. My Bronica ETR kit would be worth about let me
think ummm nothing these days. But not worth selling either. So
there it is packed away, and there it stays. A medium format kit seemed
like an investment in the future back around 1980, now it's a white
elephant.

pentax sighting...sort of...

2008-08-08 Thread Subash
hi,

no photos, just a small story... :-))

there's a camera repair guy near my workplace who does everything from
small point and shoots to nikon d200s. since he has been at it for long,
he also has a large customer base and his camera repair shop also serves
as an unofficial sell-buy hub.

i drop in once in a while to see if he's got anything interesting (over
the last two years i've got a k50/1.2 and the k30/2.8 from him in very
good condition at throwaway prices)...i had gone there yesterday and
for the first time yesterday laid my eyes on a pentax 6x7 in good
condition. looks like one of the earlier models (asahi pentax) with a
takumar super-multi-coated 105/2.4 lens. he said i could have it for
the equivalent of US$240.

i wouldn't know what to do with it and don't even know whether i have
the biceps to handle it. so just played around with it for a while just
to get a sense of what it must feel like to be in the brotherhood. the
k10d is itself more camera than i can handle :-)
