Now that I've found the second link and can see it. My first guess is some sort of cider press, I can see arguments also for it being something for mixing and spreading something in the fields. I've actually had devices that looked very similar to that identified to me by the owners as liquid manure spreaders. Looks to me like a Model 3 Doohickey, manufactured in 1911 by the Patootie Company of Gibson, TN. The cylindrical shape was to keep the fruit from sticking in any corners of the container.
