 Interesting. What zooms are they?

 The 17-28 fish-eye zoom and the FA645 33-55/4.5

I didn't have any physical contact with them - that's why I said I have
never seen... :-) Anyway zooms without rotating front and IF are rare.

all my AF zooms have non-rotating fronts and IF:

Pentax 24-90mm f3.5-4.5
Pentax 80-200mm f2.8
Sigma 15-30mm f3.5-4.5

Hey Herb,
How do you like that Sigma 15-30 lens? Looks like the
hood is not removable? Has that caused any problems?

That looks like a great lens, but you can't find them
in the Pentax mount. Where did you get yours?

Thanks

Unfortunatly rotating fronts and non-IF

Artur, it must be IF, otherwise, such a hood would be pure nonsense - when
rotated, it wouldn't provide enough protection.

IF is not necessary, just a non rotating front is all that's needed.

That would depend on which way it was easiest and cheapest to build. You're
probably
right but we'll see in time.

Huh? I own two zoom lenses. Neither have IF or rotating front elements.

Seems like it here: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0303/03030304istdinhand.asp

It is probably going to be cheap then. The FA J lenses seems to be strictly entry
level.
