it came as a hitchhiker with a SMC 100/4 Macro Bellows, and the battery 
compartment (not shown) was completely engorged with rotted alkalines, 
so i indulged my not-quite dormant adolescent fascination with 
disassembly; i intend to do a more careful portrait of the bits at some 
point

I wouldn't get that excited.  The A3000 was a nice enough camera, but no
where near the peak of Pentax's camera bodies.
 The only lens
mentioned is a 500mm a cheap mirror tele or third party preset.  Most
likely the only relatively good lens would be the normal, either an A
35-70mm zoom or A 50mm f2.0.

FWIW, I think the a3000 was the first pentax body with
a built-in winder. Exposure mode was automatic
only. It was sort of a point and shoot SLR.
