Flavio,

I have got the lever to couple with the right part of the lens. My
problem is that it won't stay there for long. It will be fine a couple
of weeks or even months, but eventually the problem I described will
come back. I can then adjust it once more, but it won't hold long.
That is, I have pushed said lever back to its original postition to the
best of my ability, with the guidance of another camera, a ME. It looks
alright but is evidently drifting in some way.

That's probably the core of my problem.

I'm not sure I made myself any clearer

RE: ProgramA, problem with aperture read mechanism

2002-05-22 Thread Ron Bhanukitsiri

Hi Petter,

You went to Africa with you friend didn't you ;-)?

The aperture is *never*, repeat *never* shown in the PentaxA,
SuperA, ProgrammedPlus or SuperProgramm body. This was one
of the weakest design of the A-series lens (the lack of
appropriate contact and info). The aperture is shown only
in programmed mode or shutter priority AE (on the bodies
that have this function). This was always the reason when
it came time for me to divorce one ;-), my Pentax MX won!

I'd be more worry that the aperture mechanism stop down
properly. If you have another body, use slide film and
take picture of the gray card (or a scene ;-) in manual
mode and see if the mechanism stop down correctly by
comparing slides.

Good luck,
Ron B[ee]

Subject: ProgramA, problem with aperture read mechanism

Hi!
My trustworthy ProgramA is ill. I mounted a thirdparty 2X converter
(APK?) and made a wrong move somewhere. The 2X converter got stuck and I
had to use some force to get it off (bad idea).

I saw that the aperture read mechanism, that is, the lever thats
situated to the right in the lens mount if you look at the mount from
the front of the camera (please correct me if Im wrong), was bent. I
bent it back very gently and everything looked fine.

Until now. I can no longer get a correct reading of the aperture. If I,
in aperture priority mode, turn the aperture ring, nothing happens to
the time. It is as the camera no longer is aware of the aperture and are
stuck at the smallest aperture at all times. I do a very gentle bending
on the mentioned lever and all is fine for some days/months. And then
the problem comes back.

I have another camera now, but I would hate to throw away my old beloved
backup.

Any help would be appreciated.

Petter,

I'm afraid the bent lever is unable to correctly copuple to the
corresponding part inside the lens so the aperture reading will stay at
the smallest whatever you do.
Maybe you cn get it to work by trying to catch it when mounting a lens
but I believe a trip to a repair shop should be in order. Sorry.
