I will get that one for sure, I have the 01 standard (43mm eq) and the fisheye, so I am really lacking some longer autofocus lens. The specs look really good with a constant 2.8 and around 80-250mm range making it a nice 2-lens combo with the standard lens. (Lowest price in Europe I have seen is 259 Euros, but not in stock yet) Of course the new firmware makes using all the other K-mount glass a lot more practical as well. I played around a bit with the DA 35mm macro and it is really usable now (used to be OK, but a bit hard to focus and keep still). With working SR on that now, I can use it handheld most of the time. The 180mm equivalent is quite nice for flower/insect macro work. By the way (changing the subject), is there anybody that does in-body SR on a full frame sensor other than Sony? Just wondering if that is what is mucking up the development issues for Pentax (that would not have been an issue for most of the other players). Sony has it in their new A99, but I wonder if Pentax has to work around patent issues (or bite the bullet and license it, if possible). Wow. I find this surprising, given that they could have made focus peaking only available on the new Q10. This gives me hope that focus peaking may be coming to a firmware upgrade for the K-5 also. OK. I just could's see it on the official page listed in the first post and didn't want to go looking. So glad they decided not to just tick off the early adopters. Re: Q 1.10 firmware
Focus peaking makes life easy. It's to dark outside to try it out in full daylight. AF in low light is also improved. My M50 4.0 macro is now a 280mm macro and with focus peaking I can actually see if it's in focus without guessing, maybe SR has some effect in this setup. Re: Q 1.10 firmware
A commenter in a thread on dpreview noted that the focus peaking makes the Toy lenses (manual focus) so much easier to use now. So adding this to the firmware update for the original Q may help Pentax boost sales of those a bit (also the Fisheye). -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

I just updated to 1.10, and while all settings were back to default (including last image number!) the focus peaking setting is there and seems to work just fine! It works best with (longer) MF lenses, less so with the 03 fisheye. I did a few tests with the DA 35mm Macro, and when switching on the Q with the adapter and lens attached, it prompts for the focal-length (for SR) and you can either input arbitrary focal-lengths or select from a list of predefined ones. After that (and enabling the MF assis again :-) focusing is now a real joy! With the 4x magnification and focus-peaking, any object with some contrast edges in it really stands out when focus is achieved (gets inverted color lines around it).
