Indeed, I agree with you, Brian. If one own more than one camera system
- the adaptall lenses are a blessing. It just so happens that I own only
Pentax ;-).

I've been using this version for years and think it's excellent. However, I've
never had anything else to compare it with.

It's an adaptall 2 lens which adds to its usability immeasurably. In addition
to the Pentax K/KA bodies, I've used it on an old Konica T3, various M42 bodies
and, amazingly, on an old Zorki rangefinder (via a Nikon adaptall mount and a
Novoflex Leinik (Nikon-Leica) adapter.

I have the same one and I also like it. Apart from close-ups I
frequently used it in portrait range, though on digital it has become a
bit long for that so I am using my FA 50/1.4 now instead.

However, why would you give up the FA 100/2.8?

As good as the Tamron is (and I also have & love the Nikon version), the
D-FA 100 Macro is smaller, has quick-shift focus and is about $50
cheaper at Henry's. I'd go with that instead.

Re: Anyone using the tamron 90mm macro

2007-04-06 Thread Boris Liberman
John, the DFA lenses were introduced way earlier before K10D was
introduced. At the time, it seems, the ways of Pentax were unsure. Now
they seem to be more or less committed to APS (1.5 crop factor) format.

There were only two DFA lenses - 50/2.8 and 100/2.8 both macro.

RE: Anyone using the tamron 90mm macro

2007-04-06 Thread Minelli Flavio
Yes, they did an AF version that was quite good as well and lighter,
smaller than the Pentax FA 100/2.8 (which I have). I tried it on camera
at a Photo show but then I preferred to stay with Pentax when I had the
occasion.

It was 90/2.8 AF, produced from the end of the nineties, JCO's 90/2.5
was from the eighties, IIRC.

Ciao, Flavio

Which one? they made several different
90mm macro lenses.

I have a MF 90mm f2.5 in adaptall2 mount
(55mm filter version ) that has outstanding
image quality and works well in every mount
I have tried including KA.

I have one for the Nikon mount, and i really like it. Good design, light
weigh, nice and sharp.

Anyone have one in Pentax mount.

Happy with it.

I'm thinking of getting that, if the response is good, and sell the af
100 F2.8
