Re: Best ISO 400 Negatine Film

2001-06-26 Thread Bill Owens

Vista is a replacement for HDC Plus. I've shot two rolls of Vista 200 so
far with mixed results. The first roll had a somewhat blue tint, but the
second was very good. Both were shot in my Spotmatic which has just
undergone a CLA. I set the ISO at 200 for the first and 160 for the second,
which may account for the better results

Yes, I've just seen the first ads for Agfa Vista in Australian Photography
magazine. So, it should not be too many months before it reaches New
Zealand.

Thankyou. I love Agfa. It is the only film I use now.
I use HDC Plus. Is that the new film you are thinking
of? I suppose it is fairly new to New Zealand. The US
has probably had 6 different versions since then. I
have never really been much into Kodak.
Jody.

No, I think he is talking about the Vista, wich is the new name of an
improved HDC.
I like Agfa too, specially the slide film CT Precisa. It's great, neutral
saturated and here costs 50 percent less than others slide films like
Sensia II

Agfa have just launched a line called Vista (I think) out here to
replace the HDC line. I haven't tried any yet.

My vote goes for the new Portra series from Kodak. Available in neutral
and vivid colour, it is fine grained with fabulous colour. A close second
would be the new Agfa stuff, whose name currently escapes me, which is
extremely sharp and accurate colours. I really like all of Agfa's stuff; its
big in Europe, but seems to get pooh-poohed in North America, probably bec
ause their distributor is not as aggressive as Kodak or Fuji. Beautiful
stuff like Scala and their slow slide films are some of the finest in their
class.
