RE: Covid

2021-06-02 Thread rrvelar
Thanks, Ann, Brian, Dave, Mike & Stan,

I had the loss of taste for a while, nothing really foul tasting but really
only texture. The second Covid jab has helped a little I think, but it's
long term tiredness and lack of sleep that are the real issues. I have
follow up X-Rays, blood tests etc all planned out, so my social diary is
full.

I know someone locally who thinks (thought) the virus is all nonsense made
to scare the public, a view that changed when a relative died of it.

However, photography has been a help and a distraction, as it's got me out
and about, although I can't manage hills yet.

Malcolm

A dose of flu is nothing to, er, sneeze at when you get to a certain age. And,
yes, it's good to hear you are coming out the other side, Malcolm. I hope
progress continues.

The rich countries such as the UK need to be sharing more. It’s not just the
morally correct thing to do, it’s also a matter of enlightened self-interest.

It beggars belief that there are still those who believe that Covid is a hoax, a
Government conspiracy or just a dose of flu.

Marg & I had our first AZ dose in March - second jab in a couple of weeks.

Sorry to hear Malcom but I hope you are on the mend. A good friend of the
WD caught it last March in the start of all this and she had a hell of a
time, in hospital for 2 weeks and very hard to breath said it felt like
someone was poking her in the chest with a needle every time she took a
breath.

Let's hope the vaxx does what it supposed to do.

Re: Covid

Sorry Malcom! Our niece (who lives next door and is more like the daughter we
never had) got covid in mid-November. Never hospitalized but down for several
weeks. Gradual recovery, but definitely in the long-covid group. Her primary
issues are arthritis-like pain in her knees, stomach upsets, and,
predominately, totally screwed up taste/smell wiring - most foods smell rancid
to her. We were working in the yard yesterday, as we were hauling some wild
grapevines that we had cut down she commented “these smell like covid. Rancid.”

I’ve read that some of the long-covid issues may be alleviated once the person
gets their full set of vaccine; hopefully that proves to be true in your case!

2020-03-26 Thread Jaume Lahuerta
Very interesting thanks.
Being locked in at home for two weeks now I have already read most of the
themes covered in the video, but it is a very well done summary.

As a curiosity the video also explains that the Spanish flue is called this way
not because of its origin but because, not being involved in World War I, Spain
was the first Western country that reported cases of the disease.
