RE: Looseness in front of lens
Hi Jon, I have a tool for 49mm and 52mm lenses. It is a metal cylinder with a gum rubber ring inside, works great. Before I got that I used a wooden disc cut slightly smaller than the filter size and a piece of the new non-slip rubber shelf liner. Not as convenient but worked OK. The trick is to get a grip without having to exert so much pressure as to jam the threads, this is self defeating. If you'd like to see a pic of the tool to get an idea of what to make let me know. I don't know where on earth I could find a rubber stopper big enough to fit around that front element to be able to unscrew the ring that way. Anyone have any other ideas? Got to looking at my M135/3.5, it looks like it could use some work too if I could get its filter ring off... the hood doesn't like to stay in the extended position. What would fix that? __ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - 50x more storage than other providers! http://promotions.yahoo.com/new_mail

Is this something to be concerned about, can it be tightened up easily? Assuming that the filter ring is in good condition you should be able to fix it pretty easily. The ring with the labelling on it screws out to reveal three small JIS cross point screws which secure the filter ring to the barrel. If the label ring is proving difficult to remove you may be able to press a rubber stopper sized to fit inside the filter ring on it for added grip and leverage. I have some rather good photographic examples of looseness in front of lens - but this is a family list :-) Simon -Original Message- From: Jon M [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, 27 August 2004 9:06 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Looseness in front of lens Just tonight I noticed the front (the piece that filters attach to) of my M50/1.4 is a bit loose.
