I like natural monochromes. In this case, I like how you timed the
exposure perfectly to get one swan with its wings up and the other,
down. And dare I say it...the horizon is not tilted ;-)

This was taken last weekend.  As you can see, a grey, hazy day.
Pretty much no horizon.  Just like today.  It's been that way lately.

I guess we have no right to complain, given the horrible, deadly
 weather south of the border.

Oh well.  Hope you enjoy this photo.  Comments always welcome.

And I don't even think I had to rotate this one!

;-)

As for the wingbeats, I can't say that I timed it that way (one up,
one down), I just snapped and there it was. Actually, I was
disappointed that they weren't synchronized. All other flying swan
pix I've taken feature the wings flapping in unison (pretty cool,
actually).

Still, I'm happy with this one.

Thanks for the comment, and thanks to everyone else who looked and commented.

Has a nice feel and appeal. You were right not to try to make too much of it by
cropping or doing limited crop it as the case may be.
For me, the open expanse suits the scene.

If you ever get a chance, come on down to NC during the winter (Nov,
Dec, Jan). Swans winter over at Lake Mattamuskeet and Pea Island out on
the coast.

Also in the area are Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Cape Lookout
National Seashore

There are wild horses at Corolla (north of Hatteras, almost to
Virginia), Ocracoke, Shackleford Banks and Carrot Island (between
Beaufort Shackleford Banks).
