Anyway, I was reading up on cricket on the internet, trying to
understand some of the comments, and I ran across a reference to
something in cricket that had a quantity of 42.

It's the most runs an England side can score before a batting collapse.

Having fielded at silly leg a few times I can tell you it is aptly named.

It is a very silly place to stand when someone whacks the ball in your

IIRC, the image was of someone in a cricket match, and had some element
that caused both the comment about the Haka, and the silly leg, but
was not actually an image of a Haka. From there the thread wandered off

Some of the comments didn't make sense, and I was looking up cricket

it's 42 in some numbering systems.

 What base?

 I tried duodecimal [base12] (6x9=46) and hexadecimal [base 16] (6x9=36).

Base 11 perhaps, but I couldn't find anyone who uses a Base 11 numbering
 system.

It's really not that hard to work it out.

6 x 9 is 54 (base 10). So if this is 42 in some unknown base,
we have 4 x base + 2 = 54, giving 4 x base = 52, or base = 13.

But I got it done.

111 individual PDML'rs have sent messages since November 1st of this

us just have too much time, or have a problem (as I do) allocating by

Don't worry about William's cryptic comment - cryptic is his style.
What he is referring to is someone that you and other newer members
were blessed to avoid, the era of The Who on this list. He was one of
several who were particularly disruptive, usually as criers of doom:
the sky is falling and with it all things Pentax. I will admit that
when I first got an email from you I had my moments of doubt, but

It should be illegal for people to have single names, or 'handles', that
differ from their real names. And using only lower case letters...
annsan. :-)

But I got it done.

111 individual PDML'rs have sent messages since November 1st of this
year. The smart ones only sent or replied to one or two. The rest of us
just have too much time, or have a problem (as I do) allocating by
priority.

As one who used to subscribe to the Digest, I must say that this is only
those who's msgs actually made it into the archive...

Groovy! I guess we have somewhere between 42 and 500 plus or minus Cotty
we count P.J. thrice, but we have to keep in mind that there are less
subscribers than there used to be the smart subscribers post less and the
ones that post more--well . . . O.K. I got. Big thanks cheers for
everyone's input. :-) Cheers, Christine

I've been putting the names and e-mail addresses of everyone who has
participated in the PDML for the past month. I'm sure it's no where
near the number of subscribers.

The number I have is 96.
