i enjoyed the shots Mark linked, but didn't actually get a strong sense for
the buildings; i do have a soft spot for brutalist architecture

last month we were in San Diego and Google Maps was in the process of
misdirecting us — instead of the Torrey Pines nature reserve it had led us
to the Torrey Pines Glider Port — on the way in, my partner remarked about
an ugly building; i glanced at it and said i was intrigued, then i saw the
sign and said oh my god it's the Salk Institute! i'm really glad i got to see it

Cool photos, but brutalist architecture has got to be the ugliest crime
perpetrated by architecture against cities in the 20th Century.

Toronto was in the midst of a huge boom during the late sixties through to the
end of the seventies, the heyday of brutalism. Grey concrete abounds in this
city and it's monstrous, heavy, grey and imposing. I hate it:

But thanks for the link. Wonderful photos despite buttons it pushes. :-)

Note: It could, of course, be another 6x7 format camera, but they each
have a slightly different frame outline and the corners in the shots
here look like those of my Pentax 67.
