I just returned from a 400+ mile round trip
to take the
father-in-law home
from the Thanksgiving Day holiday. I sure saw a lot of Ontario, Canada
license plates heading both north and south. Did the last person out of
Ontario remember to turn off the lights? 8-)

I'm still up here - but I'll make sure to turn 'em out before I leave (which
will be for GFM, BTW!)

Which reminds me, I've only crossed the border once since 9/11. I
understand the days may be long gone that we can cross the border with ease
(and with no documents). I don't even have a birth certificate, for
goodness sake. I better be getting one of those and a passport, eh?

Make sure your tan isn't that good, you're not wearing a beret, and lose

Hell, if I were I border guard, I wouldn't let me across the border (to
paraphrase Groucho Marx). g

crossing from NY to Ontario has always been as easy as from NH to MA.
it's much more aggravating coming back though.
but all the people travelling on thanxgiving -- they must be insane.
it took me 3 hours to get to new haven, which normally takes half
that time (i realized how stupid i was only after i had found myself
stuck in a jam on the 'pike in the middle of nowhere...).
funny thing, the highway was jammed *both* ways, from and to boston.
never seen that before.

You find out how stupid you really are when you go to a shopping mall
the day after Thanksgiving. Aargh!
