Re: GESO: Stairwell Revisited
My taste in abstracts runs towards those that are really abstract. In that regard I like Stairwell #1 of these the best. Raw and powerful geometry, great use of color and shadow. The problem with being that abstract is that viewers sometimes get hung up on guess what the subject matter is. I think #1 is strong enough on just form and geometry to overcome that. Stairwell #8 would be my second choice ase an abstracted representation of a recognizable subject. Mark On 5/29/2016 1:11 PM, Daniel J. Re: GESO: Stairwell Revisited
I agree, Ann, but when I posted the original 3 image gallery, someone suggested lightening the left side of one of the images, and someone else suggested trying B&W. I tried both of these techniques, and tried to clean up the two best image, which were Stairwell 1 and Stairwell 3. Those images retain the same titles in this larger gallery. I still like #1 and #3, which show an upwards view and a downwards view, respectively. I would like you to compare # 1 and #4, which are the same image, with the latter having the left side lightened a bit, as was suggested by Jack Davis. Nice work, Dan! The more abstract ones work best for me. Stairwell #1 is just about perfect. The warm sandy tones in this colour rendition are great. Our hotel in Athens had an interesting stairwell opposite the elevators. I liked the geometry and the repetition. I'm not sure whether I want to make it mor of an abstract or an archetectrual documentary. Here is what I have so far: http://photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=1091371 Thanks for looking, and thnks in advance for any comments, criticisms or suggestions you might care to offer. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
Re: GESO: Stairwell
Stairwell three is my preference. #1 does have a slightly superior "eye' image, but the adjacent stair steps are a distraction for me. I do feel that some lightening of the left area would help. Re: GESO: Stairwell
I concur with Bob. Stairwell 1 is outstanding. It's an abstract, all-seeing eye looking back at me. Stairwell 1 is the stand-out shot for me - some good raw material to play around with. B > On 26 May 2016, at 18:55, Daniel J.
