Nice set, looks like a lovely, if damp, visit. Minster Nave & Peek a Boo were
my favorites.

I had the same thoughts as Walt, struck by the here vs there contrast

Wy back in June, Bob Walkden met us in York for a day of
strolling about the town. Selected shots are here:

http://photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=1037858

We walked a stretch of the town wall, poked around the streets, had
a very good lunch at Cafe Rouge (interrupted by a Summer Solstice
parade in the street below), took in the Minster, got wet walking
more in the rain, and dried out in the smallest pub I've ever seen.
It was fun.

Indeed, and now I'll have to post mine. It does seem like a long time ago,
everything has been so busy round here this summer I've barely had time for
anything photographic.

I love the pictures you took in the Minster - great eye for pattern, and I
like the one in Café Rouge. The Blue Bell is great too, a wonderful pub, and
I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks John!

Bob is great company, not a wet blanket at all.  British weather this past
"summer", though, was another story...

That brick igloo turned out to be an old ice house.  We were stumped until some

Thanks, Walt!

The Blue Bell really is the smallest pub I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot of
pubs!).  The shot of the people around the table (next-to-last in the gallery)
encompasses just about all the seating--all except the seats Bob, a friend of
his, my wife, and I were occupying.  Oh, there was a room in back, too, about 6
x 8 ft, with no seats at all.

The UK is a great place to visit; I've been very fortunate to have lived there
for a total of about 2 years, as well.  Living abroad profoundly changed my
perspective on life and the world; more people should get to do it!

Wy back in June, Bob Walkden met us in York for a day of strolling about

We walked a stretch of the town wall, poked around the streets, had a very good
lunch at Cafe Rouge (interrupted by a Summer Solstice parade in the street
below), took in the Minster, got wet walking more in the rain, and dried out in
the smallest pub I've ever seen. It was fun.

Cheers,

Rick

Fine gallery, with a very interesting feel for the place and the
lifestyle. I am not sure why, but I really like "Exceptionnel."
Stunning image to my eye.
