Re: Geso Old Fashioned Threshing Bee

2013-08-04 Thread Christine Aguila
Hi Don:

#2 is great for composition and exposure. Great job at maintaining the
exposure with the fire.
Love #3 for the composition. The man left of frame draws you in and into the
rest of frame.
I'm intrigued by #8. I like the verticals right of frame and the wide view.
Yes, and the mules are fun like Ann said.
I prefer the color over the black and white.

Nice work. Cheers, Christine

I love those mules :-)

What a nice set, Don - really puts you there - I have a thing
about square thumbnails, though - I'd have liked to have seen the
whole set in the proportions you shot them in ... which is always
my preference - Then someone can really see what you shot instead
of some almost arbitrary crop.

There is some redundancy - I imagine a few you have up there because you
couldnt'decide which you liked better. I'm entitled to say that,

having done much the same many times myself :-)

Lovely collection, Don. My childhood doesn't go quite that far back, but close.
Simpler, more satisfying times. I love the wide-open sky. Don't experience it
here in "the city built in a forest."

These are wonderful! I especially like the b&w renderings. That (almost) black
sky really makes the clouds "pop" - very dramatic!

Love the subject matter, really evocative stuff.

Great work!

This summer I have recorded a steam train and now some steam powered
tractors in action. These were taken with K-5 and I have included a few
B&W conversions. No horses but a few mules.

That almost sounds like the PDML, though "mule" isn't the word that most would
use.
