Black limited lenses on a lovely LX. Not exactly the same Black as a Black
MZ-S, but close enough to give me a sense of the esthetics of an all black
lens on a black camera vs. Wendy's all silver lenses on a black camera vs.
the black and chrome MX with a silver Limited. So far, I prefer black&chrome
body + silver to black body + black, which I in turn prefer to black body +
silver. Since I don't want to chrome part of my MZ-S, and I don't think I
will want to chrome my istD when I get that, so it leaves the black body +
black lens as the most pleasing option for me.

I don't agree with you there but I am thinking of bodies which are partly
black and partly silver (eg K2). These look good with either black or
silver lenses.

The silver 43mm on a Z-1p looks a little ridiculous to me but it makes no
difference when viewed from "my side of the camera".

I agree with this. Cosmetically, the black limiteds just don't do it for
me.

The silver ones may only appear more durable because scratches won't show
as obviously. A scratch on a black Limited will show the silver-
coloured aluminium underneath so it'll stick out like a sore thumb.

Sorry there is only one and it's on my camera. I was selling the custom wooden
grips in the following image but the demand was too limited to continue
production (put me right off considering production of the black grip)

The thing I like the least about my 77 is the silver finish. It reminds me
of a 1950's Contaflex lens. Not that there is anything wrong with 1950's
Contaflex lenses, compared to other lenses of the same era, but the thing
looks dated, and dated looks cheap.

Oh yes! With the LX2000 the silver limited lenses might look
great as well... but the black limited lenses are likely to
look lovely on the *ist D ;-) The 31 is pretty close to a perfect
normal lens on the D...

I am not enamoured of the looks, the manual focus feel is quite good,
especially for an AF lens. The mechanism makes a funny noise while focusing,
but it is only so-so offensive.
The picture quality makes up for any esthetic shortcomings that the lens may
have. It really is a gem.
