Thanks, knowing that there are other name/brands makes it easier to find options but some of those DIYers come up with some risky solutions! Reminds me quite a bit of the Optech I've been using for the past year. I see it advertised for $22 USD at the below link. Highly recommend it. The 3/8 you'll see has to be the thickness, not the width. I'm not familiar with Onecall. Re: Luma Loop
certainly do. if you want my opinion, the r-strap is to my mind the original. It has gone through a number of improvements on itself and works like a charm; only gripe is that the underside of the shoulder pad lets it slide off the shoulder and onto the chest too easily. The sun sniper came to market the moment that california sunbounce dropped the r-strap which they previously marketed in their own name without so much as a mention of black rapid... no idea what happened behind the scenes there but I am sure black rapid is still the maker and it was a name change to avoid initial quality issues harming sales. I believe this for two reasons: 1) california sunbounce had on their German sun sniper FAQ a statement saying the switch took place to protect consumers from inferior and dangerous products - can't believe blackrapid would have let that stand short of losing an attempt to sue sunbounce to smithereens over it, and 2) because their RS-7 looks to a tee like the sun sniper with a label change - hence, you can buy either one. the rs-2 I picked up two weeks before the name change still works fine but what happened there still royally pisses me off cheers ecke 2010/1/22 Perry Pellechia snagglepus...@gmail.com: Thanks, knowing that there are other name/brands makes it easier to find options but some of those DIYers come up with some risky solutions! Re: Luma Loop
Jack, I have been using the Optech straps for more than 10 years. They really are nice comfortable straps. When I saw the Luma Loop and now the R- Strap I immediately saw the similarities too. I think the Optechs can be modified to be used as a loop. I have a knockoff neoprene Promaster strap that I experiment with. Perry. From: Perry Pellechia Anyone use a Luma Loop camera Strap? It looks like an interesting way to carry a camera but $60US seems a little expensive. I am guessing you can improvise a cheaper version. http://www.luma-labs.com/ http://www.completedigitalphotography.com/?p=1142 Looks like it does the job it's advertised to do. I don't have that kind of strap for my camera, but I've carried an M-16 that way. The concept works well for keeping it handy while at the same time out of the way ... quickly easily brought into shooting position when needed. For right hand shooters it works better with the strap going over the right shoulder - at least it does for M-16s. And I'd keep the camera in front of me instead of behind. If the price is too high, wait a few months and buy the Chinese knock-off for $20. If you have a major military base nearby, you could probably find a sewing shop to make one for you for about that price. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
