2007/9/16, P. J. Alling [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Actually the image looks surprisingly film like. Mmm I have to admit I didn't look at it from that angle. Still seems very strange to me but maybe my brain (or eyes) are already too much used to usual digital-CCD-like grain. Mmm if you look at the girl's nose just next to her left eye, the details are actually quite grainy (is that English?). I don't know if it is the in-camera processing or the CMOS processing but there's defenitely heavy noise reduction here, and sometimes (where I hinted at) it doesn't work too well. It is dangerous IMO because it means some area of the photo show a whole lot more noise than others (not related to bad exposure). I don't like that at all IMO. -- Thibault Massart aka Thibouille -- K10D,Z1,SuperA,KX,MX, P30t and KR-10x ;) ... -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net

What I'm pretty sure of is that it's streets ahead of the K10D (which of course doesn't even have a ISO 3200 option), it kills the *ist D at ISO 3200 and it would probably put to shame the best quality 645 !SO 3200 film scan. -- Rob Studdert HURSTVILLE AUSTRALIA Tel +61-2-9554-4110 UTC(GMT) +10 Hours [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://picasaweb.google.com/distudio/PESO http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~distudio//publications/ Pentax user since 1986, PDMLer since 1998 -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net

What I'm wondering about is when anyone is going to manufacture a sensor that actually capture sharp images When someone comes up with a reliable software fix for moire. The soft images are due to the Anti Aliasing filter, which exists to cut down on moire. Since there's a software fix for what the AA filter does to the image (although Nikon traditionally tries to avoid much in-camera sharpening) and moire is much harder to fix in post, this is a tradeoff that most are willing to settle for. -Adam -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
