Re: Re: OT:I do not believe I did this!!!
Robert.I NORMALLY test the rewind knob to check for film, but it was a long day/night and when i did it the next day,i was half a sleep and had only 1 coffee in me No direct light,it was about 6:30 am and very overcast out side. Yep, i think i'll just do this once. Dave Begin Original Message From: Robert Harris <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Depends on how much light hit the exposed negs. If 27 were wound tightly on the take-up roll, you did not have a bright spotlight pointed into the camera, and you closed it promptly, you may lose only a few. If you had it open for too long and there was a lot of light you may lose more. If 27 were wound tightly on the take-up roll, you did not have a bright spotlight pointed into the camera, and you closed it promptly, you may lose only a few. If you had it open for too long and there was a lot of light you may lose more. Earliest frames, covered by multiple layers of later frames, probably ok. Beyond that the only way to find out is to process the film. > First time in 30+ years of shooting i did this Sort of thing most people do, ONCE. :) Unlike our bashful colleagues who won't tell you how they know what might happen, I will admit to having done it -- once. All 36 frames of slide film shot after a painstaking outdoor night session. Folded my tripod, packed up my gear, headed for the nearest bar, ordered a drink and decided to remove the film and drop it at a lab on the way home. But I hadn't rewound it. Closed it fast and sweated bullets until the slides came back from the lab, only lost the last four of five. Bob - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. - Original Message - From: David Brooks Subject: OT:I do not believe I did this!!! Arr,a > roll of 160vc still in it(about 25-27 shot) The other day, I was opening a single use camera when the film cassette jumped out of my hand and hit the floor. The end popped off and the roll of film fell out of the cannister entirely. I picked the raw film roll up, closed my hand around it and loaded it into an intercassette for processing. I think we lost 3 frames entirely, and a couple of other frames partially. You will be pleasantly surprised by how small a disaster this sort of thing is. The antihalation layer works both ways, so film that is tight on the roll actually is very resistant to total loss due to fogging. William Robb - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. Most of them should be okay. Same thing happened to me today. A customer asked me to remove the film from her camera. I didn't realize it didn't have auto rewind and opened the back to see an unrewound, exposed roll of Max 400. Closed the back, rewound, processed. Only lost the last 3 frames. Re: OT:I do not believe I did this!!!
There is probably some fogging on the edges of each frame, but with 25-27 shots on the takeup spool, you can probably salvage the heart of a good many of the shots. I am like Shel, though, I won't tell you how I know. ;-) On Sunday 26 May 2002 04:54 pm, you wrote: > David Brooks wrote: > > grabbed the one K1000 i thought was > > empty and popped the back Arr,a > > roll of 160vc still in it(about 25-27 shot) > > > > Quiry,Is the whole roll kaput or would some of > > the pictures in the takeup spool be ok. -- Kenneth Archer, San Antonio, Texas [EMAIL PROTECTED] - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. Often some pictures can be saved.
