Yesx, I suppose eliminating the tree would show the hansom cab off to better advantage, but I was focusing on the park, rather that the horse and carriage. I have done those images previously, and a couple are in my PPG portfolio. Here, I was seeking to combine the carriage with the trees and grass and the buildings in the background, to try to recreate the feeling of being in the park on a spring afternoon. I might, however, crop this image a bit to make another version showing the hansom cab to better effect. Hi Ann, If a stock house worries about anything other than what will sell, they're shooting themselves in the foot. Of course, you don't want to misrepresent things: buildings in the wrong place, animals of the wrong color, etc. But fixing something that looks bad can only be good. Getty is number one in the business, and they don't worry a bit about retouching for the purposes of enhancement. RE: PESO: Central Park in January
Nice shot Ann. I love the skyscrapers sandwiched between the trees. Re: PESO: Central Park in January
colors, saturation and lighting are all very nice. The composition combines to make this a very pleasant scene to look at. -- Bruce Tuesday, February 20, 2007, 7:22:05 AM, you wrote: as> Last month, that is - when it was Spring as> http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=5603827 as> ann -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
Re: PESO: Central Park in January
Nice one. A classic Central Park image, with the buildings rising up behind the trees, and a view that's only possible when the leaves are gone. Are you looking toward the southeast corner of the park here? You must have been near the west end when you took the shot. That looks like what used to be the GM building toward the left (with FAO Schwartz on the first floor). When I worked on 53rd and Lex, I sometimes ate lunch in the southeast corner of the park near the pond. Good times, long gone. Thanks for sharing.
