Oh Man!! I can't believe how little some of this stuff is worth now.
Fortunately, my 6x7 really earned it's keep. It did several hundred
weddings, probably a thousand portrait shoots, and more vacation snaps than
I care to count. Through it all, it's gone into the shop twice, once to cure
the film advance of T-Maxitis, and once to repair a PC socket that I managed
to pop out of its hole in the side of the camera while shooting jewelry for
a local manufacturer. At that time, I had the flash bulb socket wired in
parallel with the electronic flash socket so that if I managed to repeat the
damage, I would still be able to shoot with ease.

It's a great camera, no matter what the market values it at these days.

Out of curiosity, what are LX's, black Mx's and black ME Supers worth these
days?

I really should let some of this stuff go to people who will use them.

LX's are pretty valuable still. Probably around $500CDN for a good
condition one. MX's and ME Supers are worth little, under $200 for the
MX's and under $100 for the ME Supers.

Looking at KEH's asking prices ...

LX $450 - $250 (depending on condition)
MX - no black MX listed; chrome MX ~$225
ME Super ~ $200

They have an online quote wizard to estimate what your gear might be
worth if you want them to sell it. It sez if your item doesn't appear
in the menu, they're not interested.

LX Pentax 6x7 do both show up in their menus.

Which is what I paid for my then Mint LX, very lightly scratched,
(bottom plate), MX and more or less brand new ME, (with 40mm f2.8),
about 8 years ago. I'd say they've held their value, (or would have if
I hadn't seriously scratched the LX), well compared to most 35mm cameras
over that period.

KEH is dreaming if they're asking $200 for an ME Super. They're easily
findable in Chrome for $50CDN and Black ones are rarely much more,
even though they're rare. I sold my ME Super last spring for $60CDN
with a 50/2. Ditto the Chrome MX at around $100.

I'm surprised. Usually KEH's prices are excellent.

The last time my 6x7 kit was used was several years ago by the studio owner
I work with. I think I already had the istD, so it was probably in 2004. The
DSLRs didn't have the resolution yet for what he needed, so he used the 6x7.
I used it in the spring of 2003 to photograph the an overview of a poker
tournament at our local casino (a great story about security guard stupidy
came from this one *).
Prior to that, I haven't used it for much of anything since the fall of
2002.

*So, I got sent out to shoot some overviews of a large card room where a
bunch of wannabe card sharps were playing Texas Hold'em (whatever, I know
nothing of this stuff).
Everything was arranged, I had been assigned a time to arrive, and a window
of time to shoot in. I got to the casino when I was supposed to, and checked
in with the person I was supposed to check in with, and was ushered to a
wrap around balcony and was told to go crazy, but could I please not take
longer than a half hour or so.

Security person #1 buggers off.
I notice, as I am setting up that I have attracted the attention of some
security drones on the floor below me.
Security goon #2 comes up and asks me what I am doing. I explain that I am
photographing the room, and gave him the name of the contact person at the
casino.

He goes away and confers with another goon.
Security goon #3 comes along and points vaguely at someone on the floor who
might show up as a coloured blob at best (probably 200 feet away) and tells
me that I can't have that person in my photographs.

At this point I have pretty much run out of patience with these morons.
I tell him that I am contracted to be there and that his bosses are paying
me to be there, doing what I am doing, and if said person doesn't want to be
in my pictures, perhaps a half hour trip to the bathroom might be in order
for her, and that he could make himself very useful by getting the hell out
of my way, and perhaps escort the unwilling subject to said bathroom.

This went over well..
So, he gets a little more pompous with me and starts blathering about how
she is a member of the CIA and that her cover could be blown if there are
pictures of her.
At this point, I completely lost it on the guy, telling him that presuming
he wasn't completely full of shit, I wouldn't really care if a foriegn spy's
cover got blown, what the hell was she spying on at a casino in Asshole
Saskatchewan, and that I was, in reality, an agent for the FBI checking on
criminal gambling activities on foreign soil by members of the CIA, that he
was close to blowing my cover, and that if he did, I'd see to it that his
security guard days were over and that he'd end up in the next cell over
from the CIA agent.

It's not just on the PDML that I am a complete jerk.

nothing of this stuff).
Everything was arranged, I had been assigned a time to arrive, and a
window of time to shoot in. I got to the casino when I was supposed to,
and checked in with the person I was supposed to check in with, and was
ushered to a wrap around balcony and was told to go crazy, but could I
please not take longer than a half hour or so.

Security goon #3 comes along and points vaguely at someone on the floor
who might show up as a coloured blob at best (probably 200 feet away) and
tells me that I can't have that person in my photographs.

At this point I have pretty much run out of patience with these morons.
I tell him that I am contracted to be there and that his bosses are paying
me to be there, doing what I am doing, and if said person doesn't want to
be in my pictures, perhaps a half hour trip to the bathroom might be in
order for her, and that he could make himself very useful by getting the
hell out of my way, and perhaps escort the unwilling subject to said
bathroom.

This went over well..
So, he gets a little more pompous with me and starts blathering about how
she is a member of the CIA and that her cover could be blown if there are
pictures of her.
At this point, I completely lost it on the guy, telling him that presuming
he wasn't completely full of shit, I wouldn't really care if a foriegn
spy's cover got blown, what the hell was she spying on at a casino in
Asshole Saskatchewan, and that I was, in reality, an agent for the FBI
checking on criminal gambling activities on foreign soil by members of the
CIA, that he was close to blowing my cover, and that if he did, I'd see to
it that his security guard days were over and that he'd end up in the next
cell over from the CIA agent.

It's not just on the PDML that I am a complete jerk.

Eventually he just went away and I got to do my job.
