RE: Pentax SMC-FA 80-320mm f/4.5-5.6 AF Zoom Lens

2001-06-26 Thread Tony Iallonardo

I was just considering the same purchase, but went instead with the Sigma DL
70-300. I haven't received the lens yet, but folks advised me that it was
generally sharper, cheaper and included a Macro function.

The Sigma is known to hunt a bit for focus in low light situations, but my
guess is all lenses will be like that.

Hope that helps a bit.

Subject: Pentax SMC-FA 80-320mm f/4.5-5.6 AF Zoom Lens

Hi everyone,

Thanks for helping me out with my last question. I am guessing the camera
that
my sister gave me is a M-42 mount. (its a SP1000)

I have another question for ya'll though.

Does anyone have this lens Pentax SMC-FA 80-320mm f/4.5-5.6 AF Zoom Lens?

If so do you like it? Can you use it inside much? I dont mean a really dark
place but like a civic center or football staduim?
Does it take a long time to focus?

Thanks again for any tips you can send me.
Rebecca

Yup, that's correct.

I've used mine inside of a gym before and it worked okay. Not as well as
the FA100/2.8 macro I was borrowing at the time, but not bad. :) It
didn't hunt a lot, but I was careful only to focus on things / people with
a lot of contrast, to help the AF. It's much more of an outdoor lens,
IMO, but you can make it work indoors if you're careful.
