The plates are aimed at their respective heads, so in the Bogen system you have to decide which plate and shop your head(s) or which head and then shop your plate(s). I do not know if the rectangular "architectural" Bogen plate has a lip tall enough to block your film from being loaded. I've heard reports from some hex-plate folks that the lip on the hex architectural plate can interfere with film loading. Perhaps I read this on photo.net. As I understand it, these lipped plates are fairly new, perhaps offered only in the last year or so. But I'm gonna use them whether they block film changes or not. My K f2.5 135 and my Sigma 70-300 are both heavy enough to cause twist, and twist is a pain in the rear I almost said it "sucks", but we're no longer allowed the s word here. Sounds like a good reason not to buy he RRS plates. Re: WTB: Bogen Tripod Legs and Head
No, they are not interchangable. There are I think more than 3, offhand I can think of 4, completely different QR systems that Bogan sells. There is a small retangular one, a medium rectangular one, a large hexagonal one, and a low profile one. Ciao, Graywolf - Original Message - From: Frits J. Re: WTB: Bogen Tripod Legs and Head
Don't understand why RRS made Arca Swiss plates for the PZ1 & PZ1P would work only on PZ1 & PZ1P's, as I have several Arca Swiss plates made by Kirk for the PZ1P and PZ1 which I have used on other camera bodies, specifically the MZ-S with no issue what so ever. The Kirk Plate has a slot for the attaching allen head, that allows the plate to be adjusted along the axis the lens axis. RE: WTB: Bogen Tripod Legs and Head
Does that lip of sheet metal prevents the back from being opened? Is it possible to change the film while the camera is on the tripod? Do all three QR plates attach to all Bogen heads that have the QR mechanism? Frits Wüthrich Lon Williamson wrote: > To my knowledge, Bogen has three different quick release > plates on their heads. However, the one for Z-1p works only on the Z-1/Z-1p only, if somehow you decided to dump the Z-1p, it would become an expensive paperweight (I doubt there is much market for it). However, it's a perfect match for the Z-1p which I have been using for 3 years. regards, Alan Chan _ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. Re: WTB: Bogen Tripod Legs and Head
If, I invest in a QR system, it'd prolly be one of the Arca-Swiss varietys. I've seen the qr plates by Really Right Stuff models for the pz1p that are machined specifically for the bottom plate of that camera, matching it's curves. They also manufacture plates for most of the Pentax Big Glass that's on my wish list. I was not aware that Bogen had more than one type of QR system. I am only familiar with thos g**awful hexagon thingamajigs, that add quite a bit of weight to the camera. And (without mods) does nothing to keep the camera from twisting when at odd angles. Re: WTB: Bogen Tripod Legs and Head
Hmmm ... I think it might depend on which head you're using. The head that came with my 3221 had a pretty weak QR, but the 410 head has a nice-sized QR which is solid and secure. "Paul F.
