Well, I have to say that I have had limited experience with focus
feel in AF lenses (almost every lens I have used is an MF lens).
However, for the few AF lenses I have used, here are my admittedly
subjective thoughts:

1. AF 35-70/2.8. No clutch. Lousy focus feel.

2. F 50/2.8 Macro. No clutch. Miserable focus feel.

3. FA 43/1.9 Limited. No clutch. Disappointing focus feel.

4. FA* 85/1.4. With clutch. Excellent focus feel.

5. F* 300/4.5. With clutch. Very good focus feel.

So, based solely on my limited and subjective AF lens experience, I
~still~ have to say "gimme an AF/MF clutch anytime".

An FA50-200 2.8, focusing down to three feet. That lens would spend a lot of
time on my MZ-S. And couldn't they make the 24-90 a constant f4? I really
don't like variable aperture zooms.

If it might rival the excellent Canon 70-200/4 L (or, well, if it will at

In the hope that Pentax might actually read this list, I'll plead, too, for

Actually, the longer Zuiko Macro was a 90mm f/2. The 100/2 wasn't designated
a macro lens. But it almost was: it focussed very close for a 100mm, well
under two feet if I remember correctly. It was an absolutely marvelous lens.
Well, still is, as you can still buy it new for the time being, for a short
while longer anyway, albeit for an inflated price.

Hi,
I definitely second that. My wish is a FA* 70(80)-200 with constant F4
aperture. Top notch optical and mechanical quality, with FA* series
AF/MF (MF should be written in small letters "mf", but it doesn't stand
well besides AF designation :) clutch mechanism, without power zoom.

Besides being a good companion to FA 24-90 or FA 28-70, I also feel
that such a lens would be in the line with MZ-S philosophy, top quality
but portable piece of photographic equipment.

Yes, I know about the A*200/2.8 - in fact I have one - but I'd still
like something between 150mm and 200mm. Also, a 250mm/2.8 or so would be
nice. The FA*24/2.0 is huge, and it's auto focus. Not my cup o' tea.
