1. How to solve the world's problems. 2. How to solve Pentax' problems. 3. How to solve my own problems. 4. How to show more love to my God, wife, sons. Sorry. Thought this was the Dr. Laura list. :) I'll try again later. Collin -- . --- Cats are evil incarnate. They are only your friend until someone makes a better offer. RE: What would you ~like~ to learn here?
Aaron wrote, on the subject of adjusting those plastic Patterson reels: If they're the plastic ones, you just twist the two sides in opposite directions, and they pop apart. Then you slide the one reel up the groove and twist back in the opposite direction. Hi Aaron, Thanks! That's sort of what I thought, but they both seemed pretty tight, and I didn't want to apply too much torque if there was some other way they were supposed to come loose. I bought the tank and reels used (from Collin, in fact), and they've probably been tightly secured in 35mm size for a long time. Time to buy some film! Hi All, What would you ~like~ to learn here? 1) How others cope with that feeling of disappointment when that shot (or half roll) you thought would be brilliant, isn't. 2) Whether others think in BW when shooting with BW film. 3) A definitive answer to mind/body duality Cheers, Simon -Original Message- From: Peifer, William [OCDUS] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, 18 January 2002 5:49 AM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: What would you ~like~ to learn here? Hi all, There's been a long list of interesting posts on all things photographic (and otherwise) that folks have learned from the PDML. I thought that since we've gone through the what lenses do you have and what lenses do you want threads, maybe we should do likewise with what have you learned here. With that in mind, I'll pose the question to you all: What would you ~like~ to learn here? I'll start. There are actually three things I can think of, off the top of my head, that I'd like to learn. In no particular order: (1) Learn the technique of approaching complete strangers and get them to consent to my photographing them. Shel seems to be particularly good at this. I seem to have trouble getting some ~acquaintances~ to consent! Maybe I need an unassuming little Leica? ;-) But see Item (2) below (2) Learn to spend less time buying equipment, or thinking about buying equipment, or looking at equipment I can't afford, and start spending more time exposing film. (3) Learn how the devil to loosen the center of one of those Patterson reels I have, so I can change it from 35-mm size to 120 size. Looks almost like there should be some special tool to do that, but maybe there's just a hidden catch that I need to depress. I was thinking about maybe running a roll of Tri-X through that old Agfa in the closet, and I know those reels are supposed to be adjustable. How 'bout you all? Re: What would you ~like~ to learn here?
Starting a 120 roll onto a typical stainless reel is much easier that doing the same with a 35mm roll. With the 120 roll, you merely allow it to curl about the hub, and then secure it under the clip. It's a no brainer. Paul [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: If they're the plastic ones, you just twist the two sides in opposite directions, and they pop apart.
